Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 August 2026
Tide is made by AI Mobile Studio. This policy describes what the app collects, what it sends to our server, and what it never sends anywhere. It is written to be checked against the app's behaviour rather than to cover us — if something here does not match what Tide does, the policy is the thing that is wrong, and we want to hear about it.
The short version. Which apps you use, and for how long, stays on your phone. What reaches our server is totals — your budget, what you spent against it, and how many times you stopped yourself. There is no per-app table in our database.
Your account
Tide does not ask for an email address, a password, or a social login. On first launch the app generates a random identifier on the device and sends it to us, and we create an anonymous account against it. That identifier is not derived from your device's hardware, your phone number, or any advertising ID — it is a random string, and it means nothing outside Tide.
You may set a display name. It is optional, it defaults to a placeholder, and its only purpose is so the people in your crew see a name instead of a blank row.
What stays on your phone
The following never leaves your device. It is not uploaded, not backed up to us, and not visible to anyone but you:
- Which apps you used and for how long. The whole per-app picture.
- Which apps you have chosen to seal.
- Your rhythms — the recurring seals, their times and days.
- Notification settings other than the two described below.
What we store on our server
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your random device identifier and, optionally, a display name | So your data survives a reinstall and your crew sees a name |
| One row per day: your budget in minutes, minutes spent, minutes under budget, and how many reaches you stopped | The stats screen, your streak, and the crew leaderboard |
| Focus sessions: length, strictness, when they started and ended | So your crew can see you are in a session, and so the app can settle a crashed one |
| Crew membership and invite codes | To put the right people in the right crew |
| Your time zone and language | So the weekly receipt arrives on Sunday evening where you are, in a language you read |
| A push notification token, and whether you want crew activity and the weekly receipt | To send those two notifications, and to not send them when you have turned them off |
| Subscription status: product, store, state, and expiry date | To know whether you have Tide Pro |
What your crew sees
A crew is at most four people, or eight on Tide Pro. Each of them can see, about you:
- Your display name.
- How many minutes under budget you were this week — one number.
- That you are currently in a focus session, and how long that session is.
They cannot see which apps you use, which apps you have sealed, what you spent your budget on, or anything about a particular day. Leaving a crew stops all of it.
Who else receives anything
- RevenueCat handles subscriptions. If you buy Tide Pro, it receives your anonymous Tide identifier and the purchase record from Apple so it can tell us whether the subscription is active.
- Apple processes the payment itself. We never see your card, your Apple Account, or your billing address.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers push notifications, if you have enabled them. It receives a device token and the text of the notification.
We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share anything with data brokers.
How long we keep it
Daily totals and session records are kept while your account exists, because a streak and a weekly comparison need history. Invite codes expire after 72 hours whether or not they are used.
Deleting your data
On your phone: Settings → Data & privacy → Delete all local data clears everything Tide has stored on the device.
On our server: email hello@aimobilestudio.com from any address and ask, and we will delete your account and everything attached to it — daily totals, sessions, crew membership and subscription record. Because accounts are anonymous, tell us the identifier shown under Settings → Data & privacy so we can find the right one.
Children
Tide is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. Nothing in the app asks for a birthday, and nothing in it is designed to appeal to children.
Where your data is
Our server and database are hosted in Germany. If you use Tide from outside the EU, the data listed above is transferred there.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to access, correct, export or delete the data we hold about you, and to object to our processing it. Everything we hold is listed in the table above, and the email address in this policy reaches a person.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date at the top and say so in the app before the change takes effect.
